KODIAK, AK:  Continuing outreach efforts to keep the local community informed on activities at the Pacific Spaceport Complex – Alaska (PSCA), Alaska Aerospace gave an update of 2017 accomplishments, along with information on Alaska Aerospace’s future business development efforts to the Kodiak Island Borough Assembly at their Thursday, October 19, 2017 regular meeting. 

“Alaska Aerospace strives to be a good neighbor and economic contributor to the Kodiak community” stated Craig E. Campbell, Alaska Aerospace President and CEO.  “The opportunity to appear before the Assembly to share information about our current launches and future commercial activities is important to our commitment to keeping residents and their elected representatives fully informed about our activities and future direction” he continued. 

During the presentation Campbell was asked whether increased launch operations will result in eventual closure of public access to Fossil Beach and the public lands that surround the area.  “We recognize the significance of keeping the Narrow Cape area open to the public” Campbell replied.  “We only restrict access to the area and Fossil Beach for short periods of time during launch and critical pre-launch operations for the safety of the public; usually restricted to between four and six hours” he continued.  “We appreciate the public’s desire to use this area for recreational purposes and will continue to minimize closure of the area as we expand operations at PSCA” he concluded.
